Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, recently shared a series of posts on his official X account addressing hunting traditions, gray wolf populations, and the anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy.

On November 7, 2025, Stauber addressed local hunters ahead of the season opener, stating: "Enjoy our way of life tomorrow, hunters! Shoot straight and stay safe out there!"

The following day, November 8, he commented on wildlife management in relation to public safety: "Seeing a wolf stroll near a school while kids are in class is a stark reminder that gray wolf populations are WELL past restored. They must be removed from the endangered species list!"

On November 9, Stauber highlighted an upcoming milestone for Great Lakes shipping history: "Tomorrow marks 50 years since the Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior. Stay tuned tomorrow as we honor the memory of the 29 men who were lost and highlight the impact shipping makes to keep America strong."

Stauber was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1966 and currently resides in Hermantown. He graduated from Lake Superior State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990. Before joining Congress, he served on the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019.
