Congressman Pete Stauber of Minnesota's 8th District voted in favor of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which is set to be signed into law by President Trump. The legislation aligns with President Trump's agenda and includes measures such as tax cuts, energy initiatives, and border security enhancements.
Stauber commented on the bill's passage: "In November, the American people elected President Trump and gave him the majorities in both the House and Senate with a clear mandate: to restore safety and unleash prosperity across our nation. Today, the House took a significant step in enacting the American people’s agenda, and I am proud to have helped deliver this historic legislation to the President’s desk. President Trump’s One Big, Beautiful Bill will put America’s families and workers first by delivering the largest tax cuts in our nation’s history, unleashing American energy dominance, permanently securing our borders, modernizing air traffic control, and strengthening our military. I look forward to seeing the One Big, Beautiful Bill deliver a new Golden Age for the American people."
The act makes permanent the 2017 tax cuts introduced during Trump's presidency. It also doubles and makes permanent the Child Tax Credit while eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay. Additional provisions include reduced taxes for Social Security recipients and increased expensing options for small businesses.
The bill incentivizes domestic manufacturing by rewarding companies that build factories in the U.S., while supporting family farms through raised death tax exemptions. National security measures are included with funding for border wall completion and additional personnel for ICE, Customs officers, and Border Patrol agents.
Energy independence is addressed through initiatives aimed at reducing living costs. The bill allocates $12.5 billion for air traffic control improvements and funds for missile defense system upgrades.
Efforts to eliminate waste from federal programs are also part of this legislation. This includes removing illegal aliens from Medicaid and SNAP benefits while establishing work requirements for these programs.
