Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and recognize National Manufacturing Day.
On October 2, 2025, Stauber wrote, "Even the liberal media admits this is a Democrat shutdown." Later that day, he posted another message addressing the circumstances of the shutdown: "Don’t let the Democrats lie to you. In a 2019 debate, every Democrat candidate raised their hand in support of taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants. Now, they have shut down the government over it."
The following day, Stauber marked an annual observance with a post stating, "Today is National Manufacturing Day! Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District thrives on the hard work of our manufacturers. They drive innovation and create good quality jobs. Let’s honor their contributions and continue to champion American-made goods!" (October 3, 2025).
Stauber has represented Minnesota's 8th district in Congress since replacing Rick Nolan in 2019. Before his congressional service, he was a member of the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966 and currently residing in Hermantown, Stauber graduated from Lake Superior State University with a BA in 1990.
