Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, used his social media platform this week to acknowledge national observances and a recent tragedy in Minnesota.
On September 1, Stauber posted a message for Labor Day: "Happy Labor Day! Today, we honor the hardworking men and women whose dedication, grit, and determination have built this nation and continue to move it forward. Thank you for all you do to keep America strong."
The following day, on September 2, he commemorated a significant historical anniversary: "Today marks the 80th anniversary of Japan’s formal surrender and the official end of WWII. We will always remember the Greatest Generation, whose courage and sacrifice helped change the course of history."
On September 3, Stauber addressed an event in Minnesota involving national figures: "I am grateful that Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance will visit Minnesota today and pay their respects to the victims of the Annunciation Catholic School shooting. We appreciate their prayers and compassion for this community."
Stauber has represented Minnesota's 8th District in Congress since replacing Rick Nolan in 2019. Before his congressional service, he was a member of the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966, Stauber resides in Hermantown and is an alumnus of Lake Superior State University.
