Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, has recently commented on state and federal matters through a series of social media posts.
On July 29, 2025, Stauber criticized the actions of Governor Walz regarding Medicaid payments: "Governor Walz’s decision to suspend Medicaid payments is too little, too late. For years, he and his administration turned a blind eye while this money was stolen, and still, no one has been held accountable."
The following day, July 30, Stauber announced an initiative related to public lands: "On Monday, August 4th, in honor of the 5th anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act becoming law, all entrance fees at Interior-managed public lands will be waived. I was proud to help pass this bill that helps fund, preserve, and protect our nation’s public lands for years".
Later on July 30, Stauber expressed support for Billy Long's role at the IRS under President Trump: "Billy Long was selected by President Trump to clean up the IRS for the American people and he's doing a GREAT job!"
Stauber has represented Minnesota's 8th District in Congress since succeeding Rick Nolan in 2019. Prior to his congressional service, he served on the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966 and currently residing in Hermantown, Stauber graduated with a BA from Lake Superior State University in 1990.
