Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, recently posted a series of statements on his official social media account addressing legislative actions and policy views.
On July 18, 2025, Stauber announced the passage of a significant fiscal measure in the House of Representatives. He stated, "ICYMI: With my support, the House sent the Rescissions Package to the President’s desk, delivering a $9 billion refund to the American taxpayer. Your taxpayer dollars should not be funding Iraqi Sesame Street, “Net Zero Cities" in Mexico, or the corrupt World Health".
Two days later, on July 19, 2025, Stauber expressed appreciation for law enforcement leadership by posting: "Minnesota thanks you, @FBIDirectorKash! https://t.co/HsIBebrNQQ".
On July 21, 2025, Stauber commented on welfare reform and work requirements. He wrote: "Work requirements for welfare aren’t new—they’re common sense. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act strengthens Medicaid and SNAP by promoting self-reliance, a principle even Democrats like Clinton, Gore, and Biden once championed. https://t.co/Ffgr5FTWx3".
Stauber has represented Minnesota's 8th District in Congress since replacing Rick Nolan in 2019. Before his tenure in Congress, he served on the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966 and currently residing in Hermantown, Stauber graduated from Lake Superior State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990.
