Today, Congressman Pete Stauber announced that the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth will remain open. This decision comes after the Trump administration overturned a previous decision by the Biden administration to close the facility. The announcement follows a visit to the camp by William Marshall, Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which Stauber facilitated and attended.
Stauber expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “I am overjoyed by the news that the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth will remain open, and that the 90 federal employees who currently work there will remain employed.” He emphasized his efforts to keep the facility operational since December when its closure was initially announced. During Director Marshall's visit, he observed the prison's programs and staff dedication.
The congressman thanked Director Marshall and the Trump administration for their attention to this matter.
