Pete Stauber, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota’s 8th District since 2019, recently shared several updates on social media regarding local and international developments. Stauber, who was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1966 and resides in Hermantown, has held his congressional seat since succeeding Rick Nolan and previously served on the St. Louis County Commission.
On July 15, 2025, Stauber announced a reversal of a previous federal decision affecting a local correctional facility. In his post he stated: "GREAT NEWS ALERT: I just received word that the Biden administration’s misguided decision to close the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth has been overturned by the Trump administration, ensuring the facility will remain open and operational for years to come."
Later that day, Stauber posted another message highlighting positive news for his constituency: "Great news for the Northland https://t.co/W0DzJ56s0z" (July 15, 2025).
In an additional statement on July 15, 2025, Stauber addressed recent policy decisions by Ireland concerning trade with Israeli businesses. He wrote: "Ireland is making a serious mistake. Banning the import of goods from Israeli businesses operating in the West Bank and East Jerusalem is not only antisemitic, but it also has serious ramifications for American businesses. Ireland must reconsider."
Stauber graduated from Lake Superior State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
