Congressman Pete Stauber has expressed approval of the recent announcement by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins. The department is set to begin reversing the mineral withdrawal decision made during former President Biden's administration concerning the Superior National Forest.

Stauber stated, "This announcement is great news for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District, and the nation. Former President Biden’s illegal decision to lock away these resources and throw away the key was not only harmful to my constituents, but it was harmful to this nation as it further cemented our reliance on Communist China for the critical minerals on which we all rely." He also extended his gratitude towards USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and President Donald Trump for initiating what he described as a correction of a significant error.

The congressman highlighted the importance of domestic mineral production in reducing dependence on foreign sources, particularly from China. Stauber emphasized that with rising demand for critical minerals, Minnesota's miners are well-positioned to meet national needs while adhering to high labor and environmental standards.

The announcement marks an initial step in what may be a broader effort to alter policies established under previous administrations regarding natural resource management in national forests.
