Shriners Hospitals for Children issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.
The three top days for home candle fires are New Year's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve. Be safer this season:
- Never leave burning candles unattended
- Make sure candles are away from flammable items
- Place candle holders on clutter-free, sturdy surfaces
- Consider flameless candles instead
