Ayd Mill Road reopened to vehicle traffic on Nov. 7 after being closed for a new three-lane street design.
The new three-lane road also features an off-street pedestrian and bike trail, according to a press release from the City of Saint Paul. The speed limit was also lowered to 35 MPH.
“Ayd Mill Road has challenged our city for over a generation,” Mayor Carter said in the press release. “Reimagining this critical route as a complete street we can all use and enjoy demonstrates our community's commitment to our residents and our planet alike.”
In celebration of the completion, Carter invited community members to celebrate with him during a walk or bike ride on the path on Nov. 7. The walk and bike ride were socially distanced and all participants wore masks as well.
