Wayne Johnson, a public figure active in Minnesota politics, recently used his social media account to discuss topics related to state and local government oversight as well as personal conduct. In a post dated September 4, 2025, Johnson addressed rumors about his record by stating, “I hope we can come up with better options. I don’t have a DWI on my record. :)”

On September 5, 2025, Johnson published two posts elaborating on the roles of Minnesota’s auditing offices and expressing preferences for future leadership. In one post he wrote: “Did you know that the MN State Auditor and MN Legislative Auditor are different? MN State Auditor helps and guides Local Government. MN Legislative Auditor focus is State Govt Operations and Agencies. Issues are at the State level. Issues were found. Gov Walz did not listen.” Later that day he added: “I would like to see someone who has served at the city and county level and has statewide understanding as our next MN State Auditor.”

The distinction between Minnesota’s auditing offices highlighted by Johnson is significant in state governance. The Office of the State Auditor oversees local government finances in Minnesota, while the Office of the Legislative Auditor reviews operations of state agencies and programs for accountability purposes.

Governor Tim Walz was referenced in Johnson’s remarks concerning findings from state-level audits. Walz has served as Governor of Minnesota since January 2019.
