Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, has recently used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown, address issues related to Minnesota, and advocate for domestic mineral production.

On October 9, 2025, Stauber posted about the impact of the government shutdown on federal workers, writing, "Our troops, TSA agents, air traffic controllers, and federal workers are currently worried about missed paychecks. But apparently, 'every day of the government shutdown gets better' for Chuck Schumer and Democrats. Hey, Senators Klobuchar and Smith, do you agree with Chuck".

Later the same day, Stauber highlighted his efforts in Minnesota, stating, "While Democrats continue to subject the American people to an unnecessary shutdown, I’m focused on delivering real results for Minnesota. It was a privilege to visit with representatives from Riverwood Healthcare Center to talk about how the One Big Beautiful Bill established".

On October 10, 2025, Stauber addressed concerns about reliance on foreign resources, posting, "Reliance on foreign adversaries like China for key resources has consequences. It’s something I’ve been sounding the alarm on for years. The solution? Let’s make America mineral dominant, starting right here in Northern Minnesota."

Stauber, who was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1966 and currently resides in Hermantown, has represented Minnesota’s 8th District in Congress since 2019, after serving on the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019. He graduated from Lake Superior State University in 1990 with a BA.
