Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, has recently taken to social media to comment on the ongoing government shutdown, the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, and former President Donald Trump’s leadership.
On October 7, 2025, Stauber criticized Senate Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown, specifically addressing Senator Klobuchar. He wrote, "Real Americans are feeling the consequences of the Democrat shutdown. Senator Klobuchar should do the right thing and vote to reopen the government."
The following day, on October 8, 2025, Stauber expressed appreciation for President Biden’s intervention in preserving the WIC program. He stated, "I'm grateful to @POTUS for stepping in and finding a creative solution to save WIC after Senate Democrats' repeated refusal to fund the government left millions of mothers and children without support. The American people will not forget that Democrats were willing to put"
