Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on his social media accounts between September 19 and 20, 2025, addressing issues ranging from honoring military heroes to recent congressional actions.
On September 19, Stauber commemorated prisoners of war and those missing in action, stating, "Today we solemnly honor our POW and MIA heroes. Their sacrifice is NEVER forgotten. Their courage inspires us all."
Later that day, he commented on legislative efforts to avoid a government shutdown: "The House just did its job to prevent a government shutdown. Now it’s time for Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats to step up and do their part. Americans deserve a functioning government."
On September 20, Stauber referenced congressional responses to acts of violence against public figures: "In June, every Republican in Congress joined Democrats to unanimously condemn the assassination of Melissa Hortman. Yesterday, 96 Democrats refused to do the same for Charlie Kirk by voting no or present. Americans deserve better."
Stauber has served in Congress since replacing Rick Nolan in 2019 and previously held office as a St. Louis County Commissioner from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966 and currently residing in Hermantown, Stauber graduated from Lake Superior State University with a BA in 1990.
