Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, recently used his social media platform to highlight labor legislation and commemorate Constitution Day.

On September 16, Stauber addressed delays in union contract negotiations by stating, "Too often, American workers are met with silence or stalling tactics from employers when negotiating their first union contract. That’s why I was proud to join @DonaldNorcross and the @Teamsters in announcing the Faster Labor Contracts Act. I’m proud to champion legislation". Later that day, he elaborated on the issue by noting, "On average, it takes 458 days for unions to get their first contract. This is unacceptable. The Faster Labor Contracts Act will fix this problem by requiring negotiations to begin 10 days after workers vote to unionize."

The following morning, Stauber recognized a national observance with the post: "Honoring Constitution Day, we celebrate the enduring framework of our liberty and justice. Grateful for our Founding Fathers’ vision that guides us still." (September 17).

Stauber has served as a member of Congress since replacing Rick Nolan in 2019 and previously held office on the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966 and currently residing in Hermantown, Stauber holds a BA from Lake Superior State University (1990). His legislative focus includes support for measures aimed at expediting union contract negotiations and public recognition of constitutional principles.
