Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, addressed recent national events and policy changes in a series of posts on September 10, 2025.
In his first post, Stauber criticized a Biden administration regulation concerning public lands. He wrote, "Biden’s Public Lands Rule locked up millions of acres of public lands, hurting Americans whose livelihoods depend on them for grazing, energy production, & mineral development. I’m glad to see the Trump Administration overturn this harmful rule and restore multiple use." (September 10, 2025). The rule referenced by Stauber had been contested by various stakeholders over its impact on industries reliant on federal land access.
Later that day, Stauber commented on the passing of political activist Charlie Kirk. At 18:52 UTC he posted, "Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk." He followed up with another message at 21:28 UTC stating, "I join millions of Americans in grieving the loss of Charlie Kirk and my heart goes out to his family. Charlie was a husband, father, and proud American who inspired so many to get involved in politics and speak out for what they believe in. Every American should be outraged".
Stauber has represented Minnesota's 8th District since succeeding Rick Nolan in 2019. Before joining Congress, he served as a St. Louis County Commissioner from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966 and currently residing in Hermantown, Stauber graduated from Lake Superior State University with a bachelor's degree in 1990.
