Pete Stauber, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019, recently shared updates on social media regarding legislative priorities and public figures.

On July 17, 2025, Stauber expressed his support for a fellow lawmaker, posting: "Thinking of Senator Smith during her hospitalization. Wishing her a speedy recovery!"

Later that day, Stauber commented on proposed changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating: "The One Big Beautiful Bill strengthens SNAP, ensuring it helps those truly in need while tackling fraud and abuse. Let's protect our families and restore the program's mission!" The bill referenced aims to reinforce the integrity of SNAP by addressing concerns about fraud while maintaining support for eligible recipients.

On July 18, 2025, Stauber addressed federal mining regulations impacting Minnesota’s Iron Range: "Thank you, President Trump, for standing with Minnesota’s Iron Range and fighting back against Biden’s radical anti-mining regulations. Biden’s unworkable and politically motivated Taconite Rule would have shut down every iron ore mine—destroying jobs and communities. I’m proud" This statement highlights ongoing debates over environmental regulation and economic development in northern Minnesota.

Stauber has represented Minnesota's 8th District in Congress since succeeding Rick Nolan in 2019. Before his congressional service, he was a member of the St. Louis County Commission from 2013 to 2019. Born in Duluth in 1966, Stauber currently resides in Hermantown and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lake Superior State University.
