Forest Lake Public School District: MCA and MTAS Reading results for 2021-22 school year

Forest Lake Public School District ranked first in the Washington County for test participation, with 2,984 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Forest Lake Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 14% over the previous year.

Forest Lake Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 51% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 19% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 38% not meeting the expected standards.

Forest Lake Public School District encompasses schools within Washington County and has a main office in Forest Lake.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
