SoWashCo Schools is moving to an opt-in transportation system starting in the fall to help ensure the most efficient routing for students eligible to ride a school bus.

We are moving to an opt-in transportation system as another step to address the ongoing bus driver shortage and to help create a more efficient and sustainable busing system.

Currently, all qualifying students are assigned a bus route, whether they need/use bus transportation or not. This results in empty seats on buses from students who never use bus transportation.

On March 15, all families with students enrolled in SoWashCo Schools will receive communication that will include a link to an opt-in form for transportation services for each child for the 2023-24 school year.

Families must complete the opt-in form in Campus Parent Portal beginning Wednesday, March 15 through Monday, March 27. Families that do not complete the form for each child will be opted out of transportation services for the 2023-24 school year.

If your situation changes, families can opt back in for transportation at any time, as long as the student qualifies for busing services.

Please check our website at sowashco.org/transportation, and look for an email with more information after spring break.

Thank you for supporting SoWashCo Schools as we work toward a more efficient and sustainable bus transportation syste
