Xcel Energy is pleased to welcome Kirstin Sersland as a Community Relations Manager. She will serve communities in the Southeast Metro, including Lake Elmo, Roseville, Cottage Grove, Lakeville, South St. Paul, and  Woodbury, along with Dakota County.

As an Xcel Energy Community Relations Manager, Kirstin will work closely with local governments and community organizations to share information about company projects and services, support economic development and growth opportunities, facilitate permit approvals, sponsor community events, and promote volunteer opportunities in support of the company’s commitment to community service.

Kirstin is a government affairs and public policy professional with experience and relationships that encompass federal, state, tribal, and local levels of government. Most recently, she was Director of Local Government Affairs at Lumen, where she spent 10 years on local policy issues and driving industry advocacy across the upper Midwest. Kirstin developed and maintained new cable franchises throughout the Twin Cities, and managed broadband deployment projects throughout rural Midwest markets.

Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, she holds a BA in Political Science from Gustavus Adolphus College and is a Humphrey Policy Fellow Alumni. She lives in Woodbury with her husband, Matt, and their three children.

Kirstin is replacing Jake Sedlacek who has taken another position within the Company. Kirstin started March 1 and is based at the Newport Service Center. If you’d like to connect with Kirstin, you can reach her at Kirstin.M.Sersland@xcelenergy.com or 651.458.1228
