Incumbent Sandell retains House seat, thanks voters

Vote88

Democratic candidate Steve Sandell beat Republican opponent Kelly Jahner-Byrne for the District 53B House seat and thanked everyone who helped him retain the seat.

“I’ve been lucky, with everyone’s help, to win a couple of times and to have this pretty remarkable job," Sandell wrote on his Facebook page. "Thanks to all who waved signs, “dropped lit”, wrote cards, sent contributions, made calls, offered encouragement, put up signs, came to meetings, sent a note . . . and voted. Your belief that a vote—your own vote as well as others’—can strengthen our democracy and enrich the lives of those with whom we share this part of the world is the inspiration I recognize and treasure."

Jahner-Byrne conceded defeat and thanked voters who supported her.

“My heartfelt thanks to everyone that donated, volunteered, sent a note, walked, door knocked, cheered, hosted a sign or helped in any way. My heart is filled with gratitude. My hope is that those that were successful will lead with a servant's heart and work hard for the people of Woodbury and MN,” she posted on Facebook.
