Shriners Hospitals for Children issued the following announcement on April 2
Twin Cities, the health and safety of our patients, families, volunteers and staff is our top priority. We have taken action to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through screening for risk factors before entry to our building, limiting the number of visitors at each appointment and only scheduling patients who have an urgent need.
We feel that in order to help support our local pediatric health care providers, we can provide additional care for orthopaedic conditions that may occur with higher frequency as our community’s children are at home, such as broken bones. We offer patient appointments for urgent pediatric fractures.
Please call our injury line at 612-269-7021.
One of our providers will see patients for same day or next day appointments.
Fracture appointment guidelines:
- Children and adolescents, 18 years and younger.
- Suspected and/or documented fracture by radiograph; please bring images.
- Stable patients only, who do not require immediate intervention (e.g. closed fracture).
- If you are concerned the patient may require surgery, please instruct the patient to be NPO (take nothing by mouth) after midnight.
