North High School issued the following announcement on March 12
Today Governor Walz announced schools will remain open. Any future closures will occur if someone in our school community tests positive for COVID-19 or if the Governor decides differently.
One of the hardest conversations to have with our kids today was the one telling the boys their playoff game was canceled for tonight. But we also know that while people are dying during this international pandemic, our disappointment (though real) pales in that comparison. For that, we remain grateful for life and hopeful that our #roadtoredemption for 2020 isn’t over for good.
While school remains open, we are committed to ensuring a clean and safe space here. We also deeply respect the right of any parent who decides their students will not attend school due to COVID-19 precautions.
Please keep our educators in mind during this time. Navigating how to build and sustain calm classrooms during such un-calm times is what many of our best educators do well. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t still take its toll.
