Rep. Robert P. "Bob" Dettmer gives a 2020 legislative update, according to a recent Facebook post.
Dettmer focuses on issues regarding education, healthcare reform, transportation, economic growth, veterans and military affairs. He began his legislative update by honoring the three fallen soldiers during the helicopter crash near Kimball this past December. The tribute came during his opening day floor session on the House Floor.
“It was a fitting tribute to those National Guardsmen who gave their lives while serving our community and our nation,” Dettmer said.
Dettmer also discussed the projected $1.3 billion reported budget surplus and his plans on using it for tax relief purposes.
"On this topic, I've been very clear – use it for tax relief. This is the money that belongs to the taxpayers, as they are the ones who created the surplus in the first place by paying too much to their state government," Dettmer said.
He concluded the update by thanking Forest Lake Chamber for hosting him for breakfast as well as a student discussion panel organized by MCCL to speak on his role as a pro-life legislator.
